25-Year-Old Woman Arrested For DUI After Car Wreck

On Tuesday afternoon, a 25-year-old woman was taken into custody by Mesa police after she got involved in an accident and escaped the scene while the driver of the other motor vehicle was hanging onto her hood.

The driver hanging on Kasana Tracey Oslin Querta’s hood told the police officers that he also saw a small child in Querta’s car who was not in a car seat.

Police report showed that police were called to Alma School Road and Rio Salado Parkway around 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday after several individuals reported that Querta struck a stopped motor vehicle.

Police was told by a witness that Querta attempted to escape the accident spot and drove for a short distance with the driver of the other motor vehicle hanging onto her hood until he was able to safely let go.

After sometime, police helicopter found the motor vehicle and police said Querta was driving at high rate of speed, making unsafe lane changes and failing “to obey traffic control devices,” according to court records.

Querta’s car was pulled over by police near Longmore and Broadway Road. Officers said she showed signs of impairment which included slurred speech, bloodshot eyes and the strong odor of alcohol, according to police reports.

Officers also confirmed the other driver’s report that there was a small child in the motor vehicle without a car seat.

Querta resisted police attempts to draw her blood sample for the intoxication test and required six officers to hold her down.

She was taken into custody on suspicion of child endangerment, aggravated DUI and failure to stop at a collision, among other allegations. She was being held on a $7,500 bond.
