Two Phoenix men charged with shooting suspected drunk driver

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – According to the authorities, two Phoenix men shot and injured a man they suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and now both are facing charges.

On Monday, Shane Tebo and Brandon Vongthongthip were going on State Route 87 when they noticed that the motor vehicle behind their car was swerving. Therefore, they suspected that an intoxicated individual was behind its wheel.

The men called the cops to report and attempted to block the driver after he drove into a ditch. One of them also attempted to grab the keys while the vehicle was still running. They didn’t succeed in stopping him from driving. At last, Tebo fired several rounds into the vehicle’s engine block to stop the vehicle after it moved forward.

Vongthonthip then shot at the person who was behind the wheel who was driving under the influence of alcohol according to him.

Jesse Olsson was driving the other vehicle.

The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office told that both men who shot were charged with:

  • Aggravated assault
  • Disorderly conduct with a weapon

Vongthongthip’s charges also included a second-degree attempted homicide.

The shooting case is still under investigation by the police.
