Serious crash on Loop 101 leads to arrest
GLENDALE, AZ – On Saturday, the driver of a vehicle involved in a serious accident in the west Valley was taken into custody by the authorities.
The accident happened southbound on Loop 101 at Olive Avenue at about 4:30 p.m., according to the Department of Public Safety.
According to Officer Carrick Cook, a Dodge Stratus entered the freeway southbound from Olive Avenue and cut across all lanes of traffic, cutting off a motorcycle rider. The rider fell from the motorcycle and sustained life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Dodge ran from the accident spot and was caused in another crash at 99th and Glendale avenues.
Cook said that the driver, a white male dressed in black, escaped on foot into a field southeast of the intersection.
DPS, Glendale police and Phoenix police searched for the driver and who was found in the corn field and arrested.
DPS spokesman Raul Garcia said that a driving under the Influence investigation is still in progress.
