More than 200 DUI arrests made statewide over St. Patrick’s Day weekend
PHOENIX – Over St. Patrick’s Day weekend, more than 200 individuals were taken into custody in Arizona for driving under the influence related offenses, according to officials.
The Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety released a statewide report that shows the individuals who were taken into custody made by several DUI task forces last Friday and Saturday. The report also shows that the law enforcement took 233 individuals into custody, higher than the 212 arrests made during St. Patrick’s Day weekend last year.
According to officials, the 205 individuals who were taken into custody were charged for misdemeanor and eighty one of those were charged for extreme DUI.
They also said that ten individuals who were taken into custody for driving under the influence were under the age of twenty one. More than 3,900 stops for DUI, speeding and minor citations were made from all around the state.
The agency’s task forces are comprised of law enforcement personnel from police, highway patrol, sheriff’s offices and volunteers.
