Flagstaff Police Get $40K Grant For DUI Enforcement

Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety has given $40,000 to the Flagstaff Police Department for DUI enforcement.

The grant will assist FPD staff DUI task forces in the days when DUI activity is highest in Flagstaff, like holidays, NAU back-to-school weeks, homecoming, prom and graduation weekends. The amount of money given as a grant will also assist FPD in paying for community education programs to educate Flagstaff residents about DUI laws and the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The Police Department is already planning to hold community events, media events and talks in classes at local schools.

The main purpose is to decrease impaired driving in the Flagstaff community by emphasizing traffic-related enforcement and education, said FPD in a media release.

“The Flagstaff Police Department considers any loss of life or limb to a drug or alcohol-related, motor vehicle accident unacceptable”, the press release showed.
