DUI crackdown this weekend in Phoenix in anticipation of St. Patrick’s Day

This St. Patrick’s Day, Phoenix police is advising drivers to be on the lookout for impaired drivers.

The DUI enforcement efforts of Phoenix Police Department increased for the St. Patrick’s Day-related festivities. The department’s DUI processing vans will be stationed all around the city and an increased number of motor officers will be on the streets to keep impaired drivers off the roadways.

A Phoenix police statement said that the special DUI enforcement will run through the weekend and will end on Monday.

273 individuals were taken into custody for DUI last year, over the extended St. Patrick’s Day weekend, which decreased from 289 arrests in the same four-day time period in 2012, according to the statistics from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety.
