Drunk driving arrests drop over Fourth of July weekend
State data showed that the rate of driving under the influence arrests declined over the Fourth of July weekend, whereas the number of other citations increased.
The Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety said that traffic stops have increased since 2014 and the number of traffic stops was 4,000 in the previous year.
The number of individuals taken into custody for driving under the influence slightly decreased this year as compared to last year, which was 2 arrests less from the number of DUI individuals arrested in 2015.
The number of seat belt citations and aggressive driving citations both increased from the previous year. The number of seat belt citations increased from 200 to 494 this year and the number of aggressive driving citations increased from 20 to 33.
