Drunk driver plows pickup into gravel truck

PHOENIX – On early Wednesday morning, a man drove his small pickup into the back of a gravel truck and now he is facing a driving under the influence charge.

The incident happened on Seventh Avenue at Interstate 17 which is south of Buckeye Road. The Seventh Avenue ramp off of I-17 was closed for several hours due to the accident.

The pickup turned on a red light, said the police. According to the investigators, the driver of the vehicle was drunk.

William Misicka, the driver of the gravel truck said, “I just don’t understand people making that choice to get behind the wheel and drive drunk, you know, and put everybody’s life at risk out here. It just doesn’t make any sense with all the taxis we have out here why anybody would make that choice”. He did not suffer any injury in the accident.

The driver of the pickup and his passenger were taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries they suffered in the accident. According to the police reports, they both should be in good condition.

Any information about the driver of the pickup truck was not released by the investigators.
