Almost 560 people arrested in Arizona during holiday
PHOENIX – According to the authorities, almost 560 people were arrested on suspicion of DUI over the long Memorial Day holiday weekend all around Arizona.
Last year during Memorial Day weekend, 547 impaired drivers were arrested for DUI.
Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety reported that from May 23 to Tuesday morning, nearly 13,000 drivers were pulled over by police officers and deputies. Since 2010, that’s the fewest stops. Task force officers arrested 499 drunk drivers and charged them with misdemeanor DUI and 60 impaired drivers with aggravated DUI. 340 drivers were charged by the officers for underage drinking and 31 people younger than 21 were charged for driving under the influence.
This time in the task force, approximately 1,660 officers from 70 agencies participated.
