39-year-old Scottsdale woman accused of DUI with baby in car
GLENDALE, Ariz. – According to the police, 39-year-old Angela Lynne Erickson was driving while intoxicated with a baby in her vehicle. She is facing aggravated driving under the influence charges.
Scottsdale woman was booked into jail on charges of aggravated DUI-passenger under 15 and child abuse.
On Monday, DPS pulled her over due to the reason that she was driving 30 miles per hour on a freeway with a 65 mph speed limit. Witnesses and other drivers on the road called 911 to report that she was driving at varying speeds and nearly struck other cars in the heavy rush hour traffic. A DPS sergeant stopped Erickson at the 101 near the 75th Ave exit and saw an 18-month-old child in the backseat. The sergeant observed slurred speech and she had vomited. According to the DPS, she was talking with her eyes closed and leaning on her car for support.
The court documents show that she failed a field sobriety test and refused to give a blood sample for BAC level testing. The officer obtained a warrant allowing a Phlebotomist to draw blood but Erickson was aggressive. DPS said that she had to be calm during the blood draw; the results are not available yet.
