23-year-old Chandler man arrested on extreme DUI charge
PHOENIX – According to authorities, a 23-year-old Chandler man was arrested on an extreme DUI charge Sunday.
The incident took place at an intersection when Chandler police found a man asleep at the wheel of his vehicle.
The man, identified as Rolando Padilla, was asleep at the wheel of his vehicle which was still running. When officers arrived at the scene, they also noticed that the vehicle was in drive position.
According to witnesses, the vehicle had been there at the intersection for at least 20 minutes before police got there.
When police arrived, they saw that Padilla’s speech was slurred, he had blood-shot eyes and he also smelled heavily of alcohol. When asked to exit the vehicle, he refused and had to be forcefully removed from the vehicle by the officers.
Padilla’s blood alcohol content was checked which came out to be .253 percent. This is more than three times the legal limit for operating a vehicle in the state of Arizona.
Padilla was arrested on an extreme DUI charge.
At the moment, it is not clear whether Padilla has a lawyer yet.
